There is also a
Duncan tartan, called Duncan or Leslie of Wardis. The Duncan
name (which moved to Berwick by 1400) and Robertson's share the common
ancestor, Stout Duncan.
The background is blue and green only, but with
similar white and red over check. Emerging at the same time as
the Robertson Hunting in W & AK Johnson's "The Tartans of the Clans
and Septs of Scotland", one might infer a common source (Atholl) for
the Hunting Robertson and Duncan tartan as the "tartan for every
name" dogma was fulfilled.
