Our Branch covers about one-third of Australia, from the far tropical north to the cool south. Our members are scattered far and wide, and we keep in touch through our newsletters. We are always pleased to welcome new members into our clan family – young and old.

We collect and make available information about the history of our Clan over the many centuries, the backgrounds to the Clan family surnames, and we encourage family research, pride in our heritage, and through learning about the past we acknowledge the sacrifices of our forebears who made our lives possible in this very comfortable era. The Clan society also encourages members to lodge genealogical data with the Clan Centre in Scotland and to take part in the DNA project.

A Hogmanay party starts the year, and our March Annual General Meeting is followed by a barbecue tea and music. In autumn we join with the other Clans at a Sunday picnic at very-central King’s Park in Perth City. (The kookaburras are not on the invitation list, but usually join us to raid the picnic tables.) Our very popular Soup Luncheons are held in the winter, and the Spring Picnic is held on the Canning River foreshore in October. In November, we join with the other Clan Societies and Scottish associations at the annual Highland Gathering at Armadale. If other Scottish organisations hold events, we give them our support.

The Clan Society works to promote all aspects of Scottish culture in this State through media and through various Government agencies, and it also encourages interest in the Gaelic and Scots languages, music, poetry and history – in fact in all things Scottish. Our Clan social events always include Gaelic and Scottish music and songs, piping, poetry sessions and of course, Scottish tall stories and witty Scottish jokes.
